Yet Another Trip to the Desert

Again we travelled to Palm Desert, about a 3 hour ride from home.  We have gone a few times because it is cheap and fun.  Cheap because we listen to a timeshare pitch and get a good price and a kickback.  (They say it isn't timeshare, it is points.  The resort, the Shadow Ridge, is a Marriott property and is very nice.  We get a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen and internet setup.  It runs, with the kickback for listening to the pitch, just under $100/night and we sometimes cook and sometimes go out.  There are plenty of restaurants in the area and plenty of shopping.  The website is Shadow Ridge Website

We love the Zoo here Living Desert Zoo which is very spacious so a lot of walking.  Most areas have a docent who can tell you about the animals, their diet, their social aspects, and how they came to be here.  They have a herd of giraffes and have bred some, although they have to trade with other zoos to prevent inbreeding.

There are also some dark sky areas and I am learning how to photograph the night sky, but nothing to show yet.  Here are a bunch of pictures in no particular order and a video.
